This page presents a collection of data visualizations I’ve created, mostly for fun/in my free time. All visualizations were created using the R programming language.

Maynard James Keenan Songs

I gathered data through the Spotify API to analyze the length of songs by Maynard James Keenan’s bands.

RVA Pets

Using data from Richmond’s Open Data Portal and Open Street Map, I mapped the location of cats and dogs in RVA.

European Energy Production

Using data from Eurostat, I visualized how each country in Europe produced energy in 2018.

Notable Black Scientists

Using data from Wikipedia, I adopted a minimalist approach to highlight notable Black scientists and inventors throughout the history of the US.

Beach Volleyball

Using data from the #TidyTuesday Project (via BigTime stats), I visualized Kerri Walsh Jennings and Misty May-Treanor’s key match statistics over time.

Beer Production

Using data from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, I created a cartogram showing which states produce the most beer relative to their populations.

White Christmas Lyrics

After pulling lyrics using the {genius} package, I created a network to show connections between words used in the album.

Virginia Early Childhood Care & Education

I used data from the Virginia Quality website and Google’s GeoCoding API to create a Voronoi tesselation of high-quality ECCE sites in Virginia.

21st Century Rap Rankings

Using data from a BBC Music survey on the best hip-hop songs of all time, I analyzed who the most celebrated rappers were each year in the 21st century.
